My reading update:

Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James - completed - 296 pages
One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy - completed - 155 pages
Second Chance Boyfriend by Monica Murphy - completed - 210 pages

Total = 661 pages read

Freaking unbelievable!! I am so fucking proud! And I didn't fall asleep once :D

Which hour was most daunting for you?
This year I must say... none. And after 24 hours I still don't feel sleepy at all. Must be all the Dr. Peppers that I drank :D
Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
Contemporary Romance is a good genre to read through the #Readathon. It's easier to read.
Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
I think it was fantastic as it was :)
What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
The cheerleaders were awesome and the girls at the #24hourreadathon page were incredible!
How many books did you read?
3.
What were the names of the books you read?
Just the sexiest man alive, One week girlfriend, Second chance boyfriend.
Which book did you enjoy most?
Probably One week girlfriend - it was hot ;)
Which did you enjoy least?
Guess Just the sexiest man alive? It was a nice read and I really enjoyed it, but I thought it will more hot :P It wasn't really.
If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
The Cheerleaders were awesome! Thank you so much for stopping by and cheering :) That means a lot! :)
How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
I hosted a Mini Challenge this year "Share a Quote" and it was pretty good. I need to check all the quotes out and select a winner now :P But there is no doubt, I will be participating in October 2013 :) I love this event with all my heart <3

Happy reading,

Have you found any new blogs through the readathon? If so, give them some love!
I've checked some blogs. Still have to. I am in fully reading mode and I didn't have much time - my computer is so freaking late is pissing me off. But nonetheless, I am having an awesome time :D

Awesome readathoners you are doing great! Hope you haven't fallen asleep :) Keep going - you are the best ;)

Happy reading,

Or that you've simply found it beautifulDoesn't have to be long or anything.

“You’re here.”

“I am.”

Jason boldly took in the way she looked.

“I take it you don’t often wear that dress in court.”

“Probably not a good idea.”

He grinned. “Yes, I can imagine it would be somewhat awkward standing before a judge who has a huge hard-on.”

“Is that the effect this dress has?”

Taylor’s eyes traveled downward, to the zipper of Jason’s pants, and he was momentarily caught off guard by her bluntness.

Her eyes sparkled, amused.

“You’re blushing, Jason. That’s cute.”

April 27, 2013

April 2013 24-hour Read-A-Thon is here! :)

At the last Read-a-thon in October 2012 I figured that it is important to chose a genre for this event. I love Paranormal romance - but it takes a lot more time to read through than a Contemporary romance genre. So this April's Read-a-thon will be a Contemporary romance event for me :) And I feel pretty optimistic about my goal :D :D All together should be about 1000 pages. Last year I read 599 pages. We'll see how I'll do this year ;)

My reading goal:
One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy
The Secret of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen
My Lily is charged. So no feat I would run out of battery.

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Edinburgh, Scotland!
And the weather is so nice today! I may go to the Meadows to read :) If you were wondering - that's a picture of the University of Edinburgh :P

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James! Heard it's hilarious and incredibly hot! Can't wait :)

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Does saying all of it counts? :D

Food and snacks are ready! :D Love #readathon! It makes me eat so much crap :D I usually don't bother but for the #readathon? Hell yeah!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
My name is Nea. I am from Slovenia, but I've moved to Scotland, where I'll be starting my Master in Psychology of Individual Differences in September 2013. I work in a coffeeshop for now. I like paranormal romance books, as well as dystopian and contemporary. But always romance :P

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
Like I stated before, this time I will be reading only Contemporary romance :) I think it will be easier to read through :) Most looking forward to? Twitter chats and snacks haha :D And mini challenges! :)

You can find me on twitter: @neabarabea

Happy readathon to all of you amazing people today :) Lets share together some great adventure!

Thoughts, Quotes and Everything Beautiful #3

If you follow my blog, you'll probably know how much I loved the Blogspiration meme. It was my favourite! And then Kristin decided it would be the end of it - we all know how much life gets in the way of blogging. I understand perfectly. But I miss Blogspiration like crazy. That's why I decided to make this new kind of meme, to keep the inspiration alive :) So I will post every Sunday (hopefully - if life doesn't get in the way) a thought, a quote or just something beautiful or inspiring. Feel free to join in, if you want to :)

Found here: Love quotes and sayings.
I'm in a bad place right now. I honestly don't know what to do with myself. I try not to think about it but it's stressing me out big time. And on top of that, I am so incredibly bored. So, so bored. I'm not giving up though. I can't. And I won't.

When life gives you lemons, demand for tequila and salt. HA! Now, I only need to find where did they hide the tequila and salt.

Until next time,

Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout Review

Apollyon
The Covenant #4
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Published on April 9th 2013
Spencer Hill Press, 360 pages
Find the title on Goodreads

Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

Holy fuck. Phenomenal. That was the only thing I could say when I finished the book. Because seriously, it was freaking incredible! I loved it. I fucking loved every part of it. It reminded me why I love this serie so so much.

Alex. In this fourth instalment we see a different Alex that we have seen in Deity. Deity was kind of a disappointment for me, but hell, Apollyon jumped high above that and it was awesome. Alex is way more the girl we were used too before Deity, before she got so scared and confused. In Apollyon she is badass, fierce, strong, incredible and her thinking and sarcasm rocked my socks! I love this girl so much.

Aiden. Holy fuck, this boy is getting better and better. And I must say, in this instalment he showed us a side of him I didn't really expect. He is strong and badass and all, but he is also showing how much he loves Alex and speak up for himself. And his sarcasm and funny retorts got me cracking up so much :D I love you Aiden <3

The action was very good. I've missed it in Deity, but I definitely got what I was asking for in Apollyon. It rocked. The romance was sweet and fierce and everything I could have asked for and more. And the emotions, oh my god, the emotions that this book brought out of me! I was literally at the edge of my couch with my heart pounding while reading Apollyon. And I have no fears about action in Sentinel - there will be plenty and it will be totally awesome!

So, if you haven't started this serie yet, I highly suggest you to do it soon ;) It's incredible and awesome and Alex will rock your world. Or probably Aiden will :P

I'm seriously losing it

Hello there.

My name is Nea and I think I'm losing it. Because seriously, how can things go so wrong all the time?!

I moved to freaking Scotland, because I said to myself "come on Nea, you'll go there, you'll get a job, start saving for University, learn more English and therefore do better on your IELTS exam, and you'll go study what you've always wanted". Aha.

5 months later..
I have 2 jobs. Kind of. I work in a coffeeshop, that I am starting to hate everyday more. My other job is in an Italian restaurant - which I like - but I work one or maybe two- night per week. They did offer me a full time position - but god, 40minutes with the bus to get there?! I live in the centre, come on, shouldn't be so hard to get a job. Wrong.

My dear coffeeshop has employed me for a full time position. Noone ever said though, that my full time position will require only 25-30 hours per week. I was aiming to 40 + hours. Wrong again. So obviously, with a minimum wage, and the roof above my head to pay and eat and drink (which isn't much, but still) I can't really save for University. Hence, I am searching for a new full time job (which is kind f getting me nowhere).

My mood. God, my mood swings are worse than the ones of a person with a bipolar disorder. Now I'm in the mood of "I want to stay in bed for days". Awful. And I am constantly tired. Like really, tired. I have no energy to do anything. Or the will to do anything for the matter. It sucks.

I applied for fundings. My fingers are crossed that I will get a scholarship. Because seriously, with the pace I am going, I will damn sure need one.

And I am so bored. So so bored. Even if I wanted to do something, I have no idea what in the world to do with myself. Yeah, I read and I love it, but to go out during the day? To do what exactly? Shopping? No money to spend on that - because I need to save for Uni. Go for a coffee and read? Yeah, but I work in a coffeeshop so the idea really isn't that appealing anymore.

My mom said to do something that I like or that makes me happy. Don't have any idea about that either. I have a feeling that everything that I want to do requires money. And I can't afford that - because I need to save. Geeez it's like a miserable circle. And I hate it.

For the past months, I've been kind of waiting for someone to save me. Anyone. Anything. But I gathered after a while, that noone can save me. Noone.

Waiting for better times,

Thoughts, Quotes and Everything Beautiful #2

If you follow my blog, you'll probably know how much I loved the Blogspiration meme. It was my favourite! And then Kristin decided it would be the end of it - we all know how much life gets in the way of blogging. I understand perfectly. But I miss Blogspiration like crazy. That's why I decided to make this new kind of meme, to keep the inspiration alive :) So I will post every Sunday (hopefully - if life doesn't get in the way) a thought, a quote or just something beautiful or inspiring. Feel free to join in, if you want to :)

This quote has had a big impact on me since the first time I saw it. It described perfectly how I feel most of the time. It's written in Italian, but don't worry, I will translate it for you ;)

I want a world at the height of the dreams that I have.

I don't know about you guys, but god, the era we live in it's so freaking awful. How many times do I ask myself, if I would have lived in the 1960, things would have been easier? Too many times.

The interpersonal relations are screwed. The capitalism made everything for so fucking fast that half of the time I don't really know how I can keep up. When I search for a job every employer is searching for an "enthusiastic, energetic, friendly, professional, great personality,  upbeat attitude, well mannered, polite, bla bla bla individual" - for a minimum wage payment of course. Jesus, sometimes when I read stuff like that I become so mad. Basically you are searching for a perfect person, which "hallo, doesn't exist" and at the same time you are willing to give nothing more than the minimal payment. Fuck that.

My degree means the world to me, and even though most of you will say I still need a Master degree to do something important, I feel like "What I've been studying psychology for freaking 4 years to work in a coffeshop?!" 2 days ago I've been doing cardboard in the basement of our coffeshop and I felt like crying. Never in my life when I was 17, have I ever thought this is what I will be doing once I got my degree. Sad, really. Then I asked myself "What on earth will happen in 5 years from now, if this is where I am now?"

All I want is do something, that I can use my brain for. I am a smart girl, I have a degree, and I've been accepted at one of the best Universities in the UK. Why this isn't enough?

Have you been struggling with same problems? What are your thoughts about this particular subject?

One Dance With a Duke by Tessa Dare Review

One Dance With a Duke
Stud Club #1
by Tessa Dare
Published on May 25th 2010
Ballantine Books, 384 pages
Find the title on Goodreads

In One Dance with a Duke—the first novel in Tessa Dare’s delightful new trilogy—secrets and scandals tempt the irresistible rogues of the Stud Club to gamble everything for love.

A handsome and reclusive horse breeder, Spencer Dumarque, the fourth Duke of Morland, is a member of the exclusive Stud Club, an organization so select it has only ten members—yet membership is attainable to anyone with luck. And Spencer has plenty of it, along with an obsession with a prize horse, a dark secret, and, now, a reputation as the dashing “Duke of Midnight.” Each evening he selects one lady for a breathtaking midnight waltz. But none of the women catch his interest, and nobody ever bests the duke—until Lady Amelia d’Orsay tries her luck.

In a moment of desperation, the unconventional beauty claims the duke’s dance and unwittingly steals his heart. When Amelia demands that Spencer forgive her scapegrace brother’s debts, she never imagines that her game of wits and words will lead to breathless passion and a steamy proposal. Still, Spencer is a man of mystery, perhaps connected to the shocking murder of the Stud Club’s founder. Will Amelia lose her heart in this reckless wager or win everlasting love?

- Goodreads.com description

As my life of now, I decided I won't call myself "I am happy being alone" but, instead call myself "I am happy being free". So far, feels good. Well, honestly it felt good for years now. But at this certain point of my life, I must admit to myself, I am happy being free. I am satisfied with my life. But that doesn't mean I would neglect myself a good romance book, now would I? Because really, who needs a man? I'm no feminist or anything, but simply stating a fact. I figured I would rather cuddle with a romance book any day :)

I decided to read this book, because I came across a quote that struck me still. Holy shit. It was good. Hence I decided this book must be completely awesome.

"I'm infatuated with you, I cannot deny it. Physically speaking, you're a very attractive man. But I don't like you, the vast majority of the time. So far as I can gather, you behave abominably in public and are only marginally better in private. I only find you remotely tolerable when you're kissing me."

Isn't it awesome?!
God, I forgot how much I love historical romance. It's just something about it that makes it pure awesomeness. I don't particularly like horses, or big animals in general, but I did enjoy this book quite a lot.

Amelia. Oh, Amelia was such a sweet and determinated and amazing character. I laughed so much hearing her speak her thoughts. But she was also so very honest with her husband. I admired that. She didn't put up with his shit and she always challenged him when he deserved it. Holy wow.

Spencer. Thank god, the book was written in dual POV or I don't know what I would have thought of him. At the beginning he was so impertinent and arrogant and it frustrated me and delighted me with no end. And then after a while he softened. And I was all like "awwww" <3

The book overall was really good, and if you are a fan of Historical romance, then I would definitely suggest you to read this book. And the writing is very good as well. The hot, sexy scenes were written very good ;) Which I much appreciated. One dance with a duke is a Historical romance not to be missed!

"I see." Beauvale glared in Spencer's direction. "People will be talking?"
"Yes, the will. It cannot be helped. In fact, the gossip is likely to increase with the announcement of a betrothal. We may as well make the engagement brief."
Silence.
Brother and sister stared at him in open-mouthed shock. Spencer rocked idly on his heels, waiting. Lady Amelia left her brother's side and went to the nearest chair. At last, the thought had occurred to her to sit.
"Forgive me, Your Grace," she began, "but this had already been a rather unbelievable night. And it is giving way to a positively apocryphal morning. I though I just heard you refer to an engagement."
"Yes. Ours."
More stunned silence.

He gave her a chastening look. "Even from that stinting description, we'd have a better foundation for marriage than many couples."
"Yes, but it's still nowhere near the marriage I'd dreamed of having."
"Well." The duke released her hands and stepped back. "It would seem you have a choice. Will it be the dreams? Or me?"
"No woman should have to make such a choice."

Top Ten Characters I Would Crush On If I Were Also A Fictional Character

It's Top 10 Tuesday (hosted at The Broke and the Bookish) and the topic is:
Top 10 Characters I Would Crush On If I Were Also A Fictional Character

Pic found here.
1. Jace (The Mortal Instruments)
Of course. No shock there :P
“And now I’m looking at you,” he said, “and you’re asking me if I still want you, as if I could stop loving you. As if I would want to give up the thing that makes me stronger than anything else ever has. I never dared give much of myself to anyone before – bits of myself to the Lightwoods, to Isabelle and Alec, but it took years to do it – but, Clary, since the first time I saw you, I have belonged to you completely. I still do. If you want me.”

2. Will Herondale (The Infernal Devices)
After finishing Clockwork Princess and still thinking about like an obsessed person, yeah, Will you hold my heart allright.
“We live and breathe words. It was books that made me feel that perhaps I was not completely alone. They could be honest with me, and I with them. Reading your words, what you wrote, how you were lonely sometimes and afraid, but always brave; the way you saw the world, its colors and textures and sounds, I felt--I felt the way you thought, hoped, felt, dreamt. I felt I was dreaming and thinking and feeling with you. I dreamed what you dreamed, wanted what you wanted--and then I realized that truly I just wanted you.”

3. Daemon (Lux)
No shock there either.
“You haven't been smiling much. I missed it, so I decided to reward you for doing it." "Reward me?" I laughed. "God, only you would think kissing someone is a reward." "You know it is. My lips change lives, baby.”

4. Gideon (Crossfire)
“I didn't know I was looking for anything until I saw you.”

5. Ash (Iron fey)
“Don't leave," I whispered, tightening my hold. "Never leave me again. Stay with me. Forever." The winter prince smiled, a small, easy smile, and lowered his lips to mine. "I promise."

6. Andrew (The Edge of Never)
“I think if past lives are real then we have been lovers in every single one of them. I've known you for a short time, but I feel like I've known you forever.”

7. Four (Divergent)
“We're all right, you know,' he says quietly. 'You and me. Okay?' My chest aches, and I nod. 'Nothing else is all right.' His whisper tickles my cheek. 'But we are.”

8. Noah (Mara Dyer)
“You can't hurt me the way you think you can. But even if you could? I would rather die with the taste of you on my tongue than live and never touch you again. I'm in love with you, Mara. I love you. No matter what you do.”

9. √Čtienne (Anna and the French Kiss)
“His eyes lock on mine." Anna, I promise that I will never leave you." My heart pounds in response. And √Čtienne knows it, because he takes my hand and holds it against his chest, to show me how hard his heart is pounding, too.”

10. Archer (Hex Hall)
“Whoa, I'm your girlfriend now?"
Archer shrugged. "We've tried to kill each other, fought ghouls, and kissed a lot. I'm pretty sure we're married in some cultures.”

Boy, I wish they were real. Because seriously, reality just pales various degrees in comparision. Literally, pales.
